Freddie King

American blues guitarist born in Gilmer, Texas in 1934. One of the Three Kings of blues guitar alongside BB King and Albert King, Freddie King's aggressive, cutting tone and fluid lead style influenced Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Stevie Ray Vaughan directly. He played a Gibson ES-345 through a Quad Reverb amplifier, using a steel thumbpick and plastic finger picks for his right hand — a technique that produced a distinctive bright, snapping attack unlike any other blues guitarist.
