Jeff Beck never settled. From the Yardbirds through Blow by Blow through his final years, Beck changed his sound, his gear, and his approach more radically than any guitarist of his generation. His primary instrument in his later career was a Fender Stratocaster — but operated without a pick, using his fingers and the whammy bar as a full melodic instrument. He worked extensively with Seymour Duncan on custom pickup designs and maintained a lifelong obsession with hot rod cars that paralleled his obsession with guitar tone. Three of his albums — Truth, Blow by Blow, and Wired — are each considered definitive documents of completely different genres.
