Santana

Carlos Santana formed his band in San Francisco in 1966 and created a fusion of rock, blues, Latin music, and jazz that was entirely his own. His performance at Woodstock in 1969, reportedly while on mescaline, introduced him to the world and remains one of the defining moments of that festival. His tone — a woman's voice through a Mesa/Boogie amplifier — is one of the most immediately recognizable sounds in rock history.
