Gretsch 6120
The Gretsch 6120 is one of the most important hollowbody guitars in rock and country history. Originally co-designed with Chet Atkins in 1955, it featured Filter'Tron humpbucking pickups, a Bigsby vibrato, and a Western-themed orange finish that became its signature look. Brian Setzer's use of a 1959 model with the Stray Cats in the early 1980s single-handedly revived both the instrument and the Gretsch brand, leading to the company relaunching production to meet renewed demand. The 6120's chimey, articulate tone sits somewhere between a Les Paul's warmth and a Telecaster's twang, making it indispensable for rockabilly, country, and roots rock.
