boygenius is the supergroup formed by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus — three of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters in contemporary indie rock. Formed in 2018 after the three toured together and discovered their musical and personal affinities, they wrote and recorded their debut EP in four days. Their 2023 full-length the record earned seven Grammy nominations and demonstrated that the project was more than a one-off collaboration. Phoebe Bridgers plays a Danelectro Baritone and Waterloo WL-14 acoustic; Julien Baker employs heavy reverb and loop pedals; Lucy Dacus plays Gretsch guitars including the group's shared signature Broadkaster Jr. Their sound combines lush vocal harmonies with emotionally direct songwriting.
