Fender Telecaster
The Fender Telecaster is a single-cutaway solidbody guitar and one of the first commercially successful electric guitars, in production since 1950. Its two single-coil pickups deliver a bright, cutting tone with a pronounced snap on the bridge pickup and a warmer, rounder character on the neck. The Telecaster's simplicity — two pickups, one volume, one tone, three-way switch — means fewer components coloring the signal, making it an exceptionally transparent platform for effects pedals. Jonny Greenwood's aggressive Telecaster attack defines much of Radiohead's guitar sound, while Adam Granduciel of The War on Drugs layers Telecaster jangle through extensive delay and reverb chains. The guitar's bolt-on maple neck and alder body produce a tight, focused low end that sits well in dense mixes without muddiness. Its reliability and tonal clarity explain its presence across virtually every guitar-driven genre.
