Joe Satriani taught guitar to Kirk Hammett, Larry LaLonde, and Steve Vai before releasing Surfing with the Alien in 1987 — an album that proved instrumental rock could sell. His Ibanez JS signature series has been in continuous production since 1990, making it one of the longest-running signature guitar lines in history. His tone philosophy centers on clarity and sustain: a modified Ibanez JS through Marshall heads, with a DigiTech Whammy and Vox wah as primary color tools.
