Microwave formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 2011, carving out a distinct position in the post-hardcore and emo-adjacent pop punk scene with a sound that prioritized atmosphere and emotional honesty over speed or aggression. Stovall (2014) and Much Love (2016) built a cult following. Death Is a Warm Blanket (2019) was their breakthrough — a dense, layered record that drew comparisons to The National and mid-period Saves the Day while remaining entirely its own thing. Microwave's guitar work leans on clean tones, heavy reverb, and delayed-reaction dynamics that create a suffocating emotional atmosphere few peers can match.
