Peter Frampton (born 1950) was a teenage guitar prodigy who joined Humble Pie at 18 before launching a solo career that produced one of the best-selling live albums in history. Frampton Comes Alive! (1976) spent ten weeks at number one and sold over 16 million copies, driven by Show Me the Way, Baby, I Love Your Way, and Do You Feel Like We Do — the last featuring his signature talk box guitar effect. His melodic, clean-toned playing and natural stage charisma made him the biggest rock star in America for a brief, intense period. Though his commercial peak was short-lived — Frampton's commercial decline after the 1978 Sgt. Pepper's film was dramatic — his guitar playing has always been respected by peers. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and his later instrumental album Fingerprints (2006) won Best Pop Instrumental Album.
