Robert Plant

Robert Plant (born 1948) is one of rock's greatest vocalists, whose work with Led Zeppelin defined the sound of hard rock singing. His vocal range, improvisational phrasing, and raw sexuality on recordings like Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir, and Since I've Been Loving You set the standard for every rock vocalist who followed. After Led Zeppelin ended following John Bonham's death in 1980, Plant launched a solo career that refused nostalgia. His solo work has explored new wave (Pictures at Eleven), world music (Fate of Nations), and Americana — his collaboration with Alison Krauss on Raising Sand (2007) won six Grammy Awards including Album of the Year and introduced him to an entirely new audience. He has consistently prioritized artistic exploration over the far more lucrative option of a Led Zeppelin reunion.
