Warrant

Warrant formed in Los Angeles in 1984, led by vocalist Jani Lane and guitarist Erik Turner. They became one of the last major Sunset Strip hair metal acts to break through, scoring a massive hit with Cherry Pie (1990) — a song Lane reportedly wrote in fifteen minutes to fulfill a label request for a more commercial single. He considered it an embarrassment that overshadowed the band's more serious work. Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (1989) and Cherry Pie (1990) were both certified platinum. Lane struggled with alcoholism throughout his career and died of acute ethanol poisoning in August 2011. The band continues with vocalist Robert Mason.
