Hackett Fernandes Goldtop

Steve Hackett's primary touring guitar is a Fernandes goldtop that previously belonged to Irish blues guitarist Gary Moore. Hackett acquired it and has used it as his main instrument for his ongoing solo Genesis retrospective tours. The guitar's warm, sustaining neck pickup tone suits Hackett's fingerstyle and sweep-picking approach -- techniques he pioneered and which influenced Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen. The goldtop finish and single-cutaway body make it visually distinctive on stage. Hackett credits the guitar's particular resonance and playability as central to his ability to reproduce the complex Genesis material live.
