Genesis formed at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey in 1967 and became one of the most musically ambitious bands in rock history. The classic progressive lineup of Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Phil Collins produced a run of extraordinary albums -- Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway -- before Gabriel and Hackett departed. The Banks-Rutherford-Collins trio then achieved massive commercial success through the 1980s with Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance. The band has sold over 100 million records.
