The Allman Brothers Band

The Allman Brothers Band formed in Macon, Georgia in 1969 and defined Southern rock and the American jam band tradition simultaneously. Duane Allman's slide guitar playing was a revelation — Eric Clapton called him the greatest guitarist he had ever heard. At Fillmore East, recorded in 1971 months before Duane's death in a motorcycle accident, is one of the greatest live albums in rock history.
