Marshall Tucker Band

The Marshall Tucker Band formed in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1972, named after a piano tuner whose name was on the key to their rehearsal space. They were unique among Southern rock bands for incorporating flute, jazz, and country into their sound — Heard It in a Love Song, Can't You See, and Fire on the Mountain showcase a gentler, more melodic approach than their peers in Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers. Toy Caldwell's fluid guitar work and Jerry Eubanks' flute and saxophone gave the band a distinctive voice. Can't You See (1973) has become a Southern rock standard covered by dozens of artists. The band's popularity was strongest in the 1970s, but they have continued touring in various lineups for over five decades.
